Top tips to make sure that your email gets delivered
As all the major ISP’s are getting smarter in blocking mass e mails which look like spam, what are we to do to ensure that our delivery rates stay as high as possible, here are some tips to help:
• Get and confirm permission – make sure that people really want your emails, get them to confirm this from time to time, carefully monitor kickbacks, always give them a method of opting out.
• Be regular with your e mails – make sure they are not sent out too often and thus ignored (check opening rates), but don’t send them out too infrequently either (again check opening rates) – find out what your customers want by asking them.
• Make sure your content is interesting and important to them – it comes down to knowing your customer. If they are female make sure you are selling female products to them and visa versa. Use regular emails to find out more about your contacts.
• Avoid words that say SPAM to the ISP’s – avoid exclamation marks, lots of capital letters (eg FREE REPORT), quotation marks and the such like. These will be automatically filtered as spam.
